Environmental impact of hydraulic powerpacks

Regularly we get questions on the use of Hydraulic Powerpacks, here some tips and tricks!

Did you know that

  • Combifloat C-5 and C-7-D0 Hydraulic Powerpacks (140 bar) have 1x Diesel Engine of 130 KW @ 2200 RPM, 1x Diesel Tank of 250 litres, 1x Oil Tank of 700 litres. The fuel consumption at full speed is approx. 25 litres/hour.
  • Combifloat C-7-D1 Hydraulic Powerpacks (250 bar) have 2x Diesel Engine of 120kW @ 2100 RPM, 2x Diesel Tank of 350 litres, and 1x Oil Tank of 1600 litres.The fuel consumption at full speed is approx. 50 litres/hour.
  • Combifloat C-9.5-D1 Hydraulic Powerpacks (250bar) have 2x Diesel Engine of 360 kW @ 1800 RPM, 2x Diesel Tank of 1600 litres, and 1x Oil Tank of 4000 litres. The fuel consumption at full speed is approx. 140 litres/hour.

Environmental impacts can be minimized:

  • Turning off the Powerpack when the Self Elevating Platform is not jacking up or down (floating and standing conditions);
  • Checking pipes, hoses and fittings for leakages and damages at regular intervals, and having any damage repaired immediately;
  • Performing maintenance according to the HPU manual;
  • Proper waste segregation of the replaced components;
  • Having a oils spill kit always immediately available.

improved procedures

Continuous improvement, pre mobilization checks

Combifloat is continuously looking for improvements. Based on lessons learned new tools have been developed to inspect the condition of the cylinders on the spudwells of our jacking houses for the C5 and C7 self-elevating platforms.

Now inspection is easily done on our yard prior to sending out the equipment across the continents. This to make sure everything is in perfect condition to get right on the job!

The tools allow us to extract the cylinders, by which they become visible, while disassembled and stored in our yards or on alternative sites.

Product support and services are at the hart of Combifloat. Want to know more please visit https://combifloat.com/services/product-support/.

UAE50 floating stage

UAE50; Floating by Combifloat

Recently the UAE’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in Hatta, Dubai were held and attended by the UAE’s most senior dignitaries.

Combifloat’s role

Combifloat played a major role in realisation of the show at Hatta Dam. Essentially the industrial pontoons provided a solid foundation for the stages. The coupling mechanism enabled great flexibility in configurations, fitting the multiple applications for the event.

Almost 200 floats were used to configure the various floating pontoons needed for the show. Eye catching were the 1000 tons build-up of the stage pontoon and 700 tons of grandstand pontoon, both in their own unique shape to optimize surface and load.

Combifloat mobilized e the largest amount of floats ever on a single project. Apart from shipping from Europe to the UAE, some 100 trucks were deployed for the final stretch to Hatta Dam.

The show

Staged in Hatta Dam Lake and surrounded by the Hajar Mountains, it provided a magnificent setting for an amazing show.

The show’s centrepiece was a huge sculpture, supported by modern technology and set on a floating stage in the Hatta Dam Lake, to highlight the close relationship between humans and nature and UAE’s history since the 19th century.

The show comprised nine chapters chronicling highlights from the UAE’s 50-year development journey and projections of the UAE’s future in the next 50 years.
