Constrained River Environment
For Swiss contractor Eberhard Bau AG, Combifloat supplied a custom-configured floating excavator barge to support river works in a confined urban environment. The project required a stable platform capable of supporting excavation activities in shallow water, on a soft riverbed and within a restricted working area where conventional marine equipment would be less practical.
As part of the project, the modular C-5 platform was finished in Eberhard’s corporate colours, creating a purpose-built solution tailored to both the operational and visual requirements of the client.
The
Combifloat Solution
Combifloat supplied a 24 x 12 m C-5 modular pontoon platform configured as a floating excavator barge. To optimize manoeuvrability within the narrow river section, the platform was equipped with raked end pontoons, reducing water resistance and allowing easier repositioning throughout the works.
The modular configuration provided sufficient deck capacity for the excavator while maintaining a compact footprint, making it well suited for the site’s spatial constraints. All components were transported by road and assembled on site, enabling efficient mobilization with minimal disruption.
