Oceanteam successfully completed mobilization

Over the past few weeks, our team has been fully focused on mobilising our cable handling equipment onto a barge at our yard .

This mobilisation included the integration of several key assets:
🔹 3350mt carousel
🔹 Brand new loading tower and LCE
🔹 10mT deck tensioner
🔹 Chute & deflector
🔹 Control cabins
🔹 5mT pull-in winch and several other auxiliary items

All crucial components to support the upcoming cable lay activities.

The collaboration between our client, Bluestream, an OEG Company, our in-house team, and all subcontractors was seamless — and most importantly, the work was carried out with a strong focus on safety throughout.

Oceanteam Expands Fleet with New Cable Handling Equipment

As part of its ongoing growth strategy, Oceanteam Cable Solutions has made several investments in its fleet of specialized cable handling equipment—reinforcing its position as a key player in offshore cable logistics.

The latest additions include a brand-new Mobile Cable Pick-Up Crane (Loading Tower) and a Linear Cable Engine (LCE), both of which are now operational and integrated into Oceanteam’s equipment base. These assets are complemented by several newly acquired chutes, deflectors, and cable highway systems, all designed to enhance the efficiency and safety of cable lay operations

This investment follows a broader modernisation initiative that has seen Oceanteam strengthen its capabilities across Europe and North America. The new equipment was recently deployed during a successful mobilisation at Oceanteam’s yard.

Current availability

Oceanteam’s 2500mT carousel, with a diameter of 15.6 meters, is currently available. This carousel offers a cost-effective solution when deployed on a barge or a multi-purpose vessel (MPP), significantly reducing transport costs for cable projects.

oceanteam yard visit during transpooling

Oceanteam visit

Last week, Oceanteam had the pleasure of welcoming the Combifloat team at the yard facilities in Velsen, near Amsterdam. We spent the morning on the yard, discussing the carousel modifications that are currently happening for our next upcoming project and discussed on new innovative engineering ideas. The carousels are optimized to suit vessels with a hull width of <17.5m, offering a very economical transport solution.

At the same time, a transpooling operation was ongoing from our temporary storage to a vessel. Transpooling refers to the process of transferring a flexible product, such as cables and umbilicals, from carousel to another. In this case from our 4000t onshore carousel to two 2500t / 15.6m diameter carousels on board the Multi Purpose Product (MPP) vessel.

Enough action going! And to finish it off, we enjoyed a delightful lunch together.

It’s always inspiring to see what we can achieve when we come together. Here’s to more collaborative days together!
