Combifloat’s Role in Nexans Cable Lay Projects

Combifloat supported Nexans Norway AS in the North Sea Link project, a high-voltage AC power cable installation between the UK and Norway. The scope involved deploying a C-7 modular barge in a Norwegian lake, inaccessible to Nexans fleet.

Proposition

• The C-7 barge was configured for shallow water cable lay, equipped with cable handling gear including a carousel, a tensioner, chute, and deck winches provided by the client.
• The modular design allowed for easy mobilisation from Combifloat’s yard to the project site, with full assembly and testing conducted in Norway during the Corona pandemic.
