Ideal platforms for bridge, tunnel works

Work faster
Using jack ups

Jack-up platforms can play a crucial role in tunnel and bridge construction, offering a stable and adaptable solution in challenging marine and nearshore environments. Here’s how:

  1. Stable Work Platform: Jack-ups provide a secure, elevated platform above water level, ideal for supporting heavy equipment, cranes, and personnel during piling, drilling, or segment placement—especially in tidal or wave-affected zones. Compared to trestles, jack up’s often can improve schedules.
  2. Precision and Accessibility: Their ability to elevate and remain stationary allows for high-precision operations, such as positioning caissons, driving piles, or launching bridge spans. They can be positioned close to the work area, even in shallow or soft seabeds.
  3. Modular and Mobile: Combifloat-type jack-ups are modular and easily transportable, making them suitable for phased construction or projects with multiple access points along a bridge or tunnel alignment.
  4. Reduced Environmental Impact: By minimizing the need for extensive temporary works like cofferdams or causeways, jack-ups can reduce environmental disruption and streamline permitting processes.
  5. Easy add-on’s: A variety of outriggers or piling and drilling templates can be installed on the platform to facilitate the (raked) piling or large diameter drilling work.

Proven
In the field

The Combifloat pontoons offer full customization and can be equipped with many attachments and accessories specifically needed to successfully execute projects. The C-5 series are often used for geotechnical services and inland marine construction works and offer a 15 T/m2 deck strength just like the C-7 and C-9.5 series. All C-5 series components are fully IACS compliant and delivered with individual test certificates.
